Finalists 11th edition Columbus Trophy finalists

The finalists of the 11th edition of the Columbus Trophy are known. The Columbus Trophy ( is an encouragement award that every year is given to a successful entrepreneur who is active as a supplier to the hospitality industry or has developed an innovative hospitality concept . The Columbus Trophy is an initiative of Mise en Place and MECC Maastricht, and is organized by Servicecenter 4Hospitality.

The Columbus Trophy does not solely focus on the product or service, but especially on the entrepreneur behind the product, in contrast to similar awards in Europe. A lot of young entrepreneurs have a great drive and a huge potential, but find it tough to push through when they hit a rough patch. The Columbus Trophy is a push in the back and stimulates the entrpreneurs to push on.

In the past 10 years the Columbus Trophy has matured. It started as a regional prize in the South of The Netherlands, now companies from across Europe compete for this highly eligible prize. The winner receives international recognition and an incentive of € 2.500,-. This year The Columbus Trophy received 50 applications, of which 20 were nominated.

The Selected 20 candidates received a questionnaire, wrote a motivation letter and handed in their resumes. After this the expert jury, consisting of suppliers to the hospitality industry, chose the ten finalists who presented themselves in November. Industrybank LIOF added their two wildcard finalists to finish the list at 12.

The winner is going to be announced at Food Executive Europe (FXE) on the 9th and 10th of February 2015 in Maastricht (NL). All of the finalists will be presenting themselves there. The finalists are:
